Not a excavator tooth. Mostly aluminum, but Fe, S,Cu,Ta,Zn,Ca,Ga,Os,Pb,Ni,Mn,Rh,Ga,W,Pd,Cd,Cr,Se,Phosphorus,Silver,Titanium. I had it tested, but no answers to it's origin. I don't mind if someone can explain. I dug it up it in 2015 while metal detecting. The only major differences are its rounded rather than spatula-shaped end. Both have holes for bolting tooth on a post as you illustrate, and a pair of dog-eared flanges at the back end. The similar small size of these objects is noteworthy compared to the larger sizes of more recent bucket teeth. The one from Texas is made of iron, not aluminum, but deep corrosion and traces of caliche growth indicates it was in the alluvial ground for some time, being brought to the surface by more recent road maintainance. Since the aluminum tooth was found in softer sediment compared to gravel alluvium, the question becomes what type of excavation equipment in the past used such small teeth?Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14919909401369846053noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2237067502004570408.post-51364998382323533762017-08-28T05:49:45.065-07:002017-08-28T05:49:45.065-07:00Nice post! I stumbled across mention of it while perusing the Wild Wild Web, and intrigued, wanted to know more.

Every site I found though had a nearly identical article clearly copied from somewhere else, with ZERO scientific debate. Since I could find no further info beyond "ancient aliens!", I started looking for answers to my own questions, such as can aluminum be artificially aged to look much older - I was looking for scientific discussion on a possible origin, of course.

I couldn't find anything truly revealing and helpful until I found your blog posts about it. Not even the Wikipedia has an entry to at least put forth a scientific debunking of it (which I find disappointing). This Auid wedge is listed as an unsolved mystery on endless lists around the internet; it would have been nice to have an entry in the Wiki with similar points as your own to help debunk it and convey a little metallurgic and historical knowledge.

The best I could find elsewhere was that most scientists consider it a fake. That's great, but WHY?? Of course no reason was ever given except from you (are people no longer taught to ask the big WHY anymore?) -- THANK YOU!!Ariadne's Stringhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13562354981972260076noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2237067502004570408.post-47988736558153052812014-12-28T18:53:30.736-08:002014-12-28T18:53:30.736-08:00Sounds familiar, doesn't it?
